I am wondering what schools or methods do most people/landscapers use to landscape their yards. Landscapes seem to be as equally challenging as a house if not more difficult in Fen Shui. Once a tree is planted, it can last for hundreds of years, whereas a wall color can be repainted after some years and furniture can easily be rearranged.
Do you use Bagua method, based on fixed original 5-element associations with the directions: north=water, northeast=earth, east=wood, and etc? Or do you use flying star and treat the house and its landscape as a WHOLE?
Thanks

DiLi aka Landform is more important than others.
But i think you are referring within the house compound, perhaps SanHe method.

Nice to meet you yayahoo.
Just need your opinion on why using sanhe in assessing a landscape since there are others like sanyuan, Xuankong, 杖眼法, and etc?
Thanks in advance!

Hi xkfan,
Nice to meet you too.
I believe you are more knowledgeable than me. To me is preference because it deals in environs where relationship of the mountains, valleys and waterways predominate, positions of mountains and waterways in relation to yang buildings etc.

Thanks for your generous reply.
Not as knowledgeable especially in sanhe. The more I read the smaller I feel I am.
Sanhe is getting lesser and lesser popularity in the market. So feel surprise someone talked about sanhe in this forum
Mind to share some philosophy or usage of the sanhe? But of course no obligation. Thanks in advance!

Hi xkfan,
To me Sanhe is direct and SanYuan is indirect. Both can be use.

xkfan, can you further explain what you meant by direct and indirect in your statement "To me Sanhe is direct and SanYuan is indirect. Both can be use."
Also, Flying Star is part of SanYuan. So basically, you apply flying stars to the landscape.... How do you apply it though; the house is usually in the center of the landscape around it? Do you do the house from the landscape separately, such as making a 9 grid system to fit the house and another to fit the yards. But then, the house would be counted the center grid of the flying star chart, right? So.. the center of the landscape is missing then???? Please explain
Thanks

Hi chueh,
You need to understand the fundamentals of SanHe & SanYuan.
With the fundamental, you will understand why I said Direct and Indirect.
Lets say 8Mansion, there are Direct and Indirect for Yin & Yang arrangement, so it can use for Landscape too, no need SanHe.
Secondly, how well is your understanding in flyingstar?
Is not as simple as we all read from the Net or books. Something must correlation with it to be effective.
Every space has its own TaiChi be it in 9 grid or Pie form. So which and where is missing? ^ ^

Hi xkfan,
They are already formulate and got poem for each of them. So when the info drop into one of the poem or formulated area, they are automatically classified for one of the four water mouth.
